Commemorative Beam Installation - Oct 25, 2023
To mark the completion of the highest point on Shumway Hall, commonly known as “topping out,” a commemorative steel beam was installed bearing the signature of the building’s namesake, along with those of our generous donors and University officials whose support has turned blueprints into reality. While secluded from public view, the beam can be seen on special tours when the building officially opens to the public.

Cobb Hall Demolition - Oct 04, 2022
Demolition begins on Cobb Hall. Originally built in 1917 to house the Chemistry Department, the building, along with the new Shumway Hall, will become part of the Commerce Complex. During the renovation, Cobb Hall will be transformed to include cutting-edge research and classroom spaces. Many of the building’s historical features, such as the original skylight and high ceilings, will be restored.
